Who are the people that create the Brocket 99 web site?

I get letters every once in awhile that accuse this site of promoting racism. I get many more that tell us how damn funny it is. The people that write to us are of all different races and backgrounds. And the Brocket 99 staff has the same distinction. The guy who created the cartoons for us is Asian. Some of the other writers are white. I, myself am part Native. One thing we all have in common is that we love Brocket 99.

I am Cherokee or Chickacoan as far as I'm able to gather. My family is not actually sure and my grandmother was made to feel ashamed of her Native Blood. She denied that she was related to any tribe although her physical features told a much different story. I am actively looking for any information on my Native background. I will certainly keep everyone up to date on my findings. I am very proud to have Aboriginal life within me.

Although I don’t as yet have the pleasure of a great friendship with a full blooded Native, I know and love many Aboriginal people. And I know many Natives who find offense with other tribes and traditions. Do you believe that everyone from the Piegan, Blood and Siksika tribes agree on every issue? Of course not. Ask some of the First Nations people what they think of a Native like Tom Brown Jr. and you’re likely to get many different opinions, both pro and con. Ask the same folks about Brocket 99 and you will find a similar divide. It's because we are all individuals. We are all human but we all think differently.

Brocket 99 was made by white people who lived and worked among the Blackfoot. It's based on stereotypes. Some of the stories were blown out of proportion and others sadly fit many of the Native people which lived in the community in 1986. The tape was to be a private joke between friends.
