What would possess a mean old site like Brocket 99 to do something good for the environment? We're usually caught up in so much controversy you'd think we had no heart at all. Oh, I got it! You're just tryin' to cut corners and save yourself money. Right? "Well, we will cut down on materials, which helps us with rising product and shipping costs, but it's not why we did it."

The owner of Brocket 99 has been a "silent" environmentalist for quite some time. "I've seen the impact on the planet for over 15 years. You can just tell, something is happening and it's not good. Global warming is not a joke. The waste is ridiculous. Trees need to be saved. New landfills can't keep being dug. Oil won't last forever. Like Jean Luc Picard said; 'The line must be drawn here'. And Brocket 99 will be part of the solution rather than the problem."

So, you save a few pieces of paper? So what. What's that going to do? "Well, if I do something, and you do it and then more and more people do it, it's going to make a hell of an impact. Look, Brocket 99 makes its reputation as a parody, on Native stereotypes. We don't deny that. Let's be honest here. I'm part Native and I am incredibly proud of it. So let's take a stereotype that we can all take pride in and put in into action. Let's have some respect for our planet. Let's honor and replenish it. It's very easy to do. If we had seriously gone solar in 1968, we probably wouldn't be dealing with this crap right now. Electric cars were around a hundred years ago. And we wonder why they chose petroleum. We could have avoided so much has we thought forward. We damn sure wouldn't be thinking of taking our trash into space and dumping it. America is actually proposing a plan like that. What lunacy. We have to wake up on a global scale or we're in more trouble than we think. The fuckin' party is over. Time to get green."

And since North American Aboriginals are the reason that Brocket 99 is here in the first place, (of course it could have been Jake Radio instead and now we'd be helping the Hutterites) and since they were probably some of the first environmentalists on the planet, Brockett 99 (as some spell it) has decided to anonymously donate a portion of every CD sale to Aboriginal causes in North America. "Although we have good relations with some Native organizations, we believe it is in the best interest to keep our name out of the Indian charities we support. God knows the CBC and NPR would have a field day with it. Just think of it as the same thing Michael Moore did when he helped that anti Michael Moore website out."

So, Brocket 99 goes green with electronic downloads and less packaging. And they'll be hyping their organic gear later this year. They're naked with Paperless CD's... and they say, you don't have to wear organic shirts. Especially dem squaws!
