THE BROCKET 99 NEWS AND INFORMATION CENTER
CONTROVERSY ERUPTS:
Monday April 7th, 2003:
Before we even celebrate the opening of Brocket99.net officially,
dark war clouds gather. Seems that certain people don't want us to exist. We've received
numerous emails from people wondering what we're up to. Most of them are very cool.
They thank us for actually starting a web site like this. But others are brutal. And still
others don't even bother to write. They bash this site on their own web pages.
It all started with one guy that turned out to be great. He
thought that I was going to exploit Brocket 99 and kill the mystery behind it. I do want
the truth, like all of us, but I have to admit he had a very good point. The mystery is a
huge part of this program.
I've talked with another individual that may really know the man
who is Ernie Scar. I'll tell you the story in upcoming weeks but for now let me say that
he is the most believable source I've heard from. He too is very concerned with the
mystery remaining in place.
Another person claims to own this web site. 'How did you acquire
my domain?' - I got it like anyone else would. My suggestion is that you contact your
registrar.
Some folks are upset because we seem to be stealing away their
income. That story will come to you within a few days.
I am not a guy that found Brocket 99 one day and said hey, I think
I'll sell this. Brocket 99 is kinda sacred to me. If you know me you know that I've said
it's the best radio parody I've ever heard, bar none. I'm a radio guy myself and I wish
that I had half of the talent that the genius behind this show possesses.
I looked near and far for this radio show, spending lots of money
on copies that were crap, or worse, not even the original program. I've looked into
copyrights and public domain laws concerning the show and I've looked for the creator of
Brocket 99 for over 5 years. I've heard "a load of bull shit" as Ernie would
say, and I finally might be getting somewhere. I've already made this clear in emails and
now I'll say it online. If the creator of Brocket 99 comes to me and asks that it not be
sold, I will cease and desist. Of course it would have to be proven that they are indeed
who they say they are. But frankly, I respect this show and all of its mystery.
And by the way, yes I did lower my CD prices to compete. But I
also want you to have the cleanest copy of Brocket that I've ever heard. That's the real
mission here. I want you to enjoy a nip of Lysol and hear the greatest show on earth. And
okay, I want to make a buck or two. But I'll back my version of B99 up.
