THE BROCKET 99 NEWS AND INFORMATION CENTER
THE MOG GOES PUBLIC
Wednesday April 16th, 2003: Here's a quick update. Anyone that studies Brocketology knows about the Mog. The Mog has been one of the most respected names in the hunt for the truth concerning Brocket 99 and its origin. I'm glad to report that the Mog stopped by and signed our guestbook today. As far as I'm concerned, that's a fuckin stamp of approval that I take great pride in. You can read it below or go to the guestbook and sign it along with all the other members of the Brocket 99 Army. I'm also thinking of adding a message board, hats too and socks. I'm getting pounced with information from your emails. They are insane and informative. Keep sending them. I'll have a major update concerning the myths and truths coming soon. Looks like we're getting somewhere. Don't forget to check out the info below. If you are able to bring the real Ernie Scar or even Ms. Prickleybush to me, I'll be forever kissing your Lysol laced ass!
CERTAINLY:
Monday April 14th, 2003: I think it's pretty god damned amazing how this site is growing hair. When I started my first site 4 years ago, it took months to get a guestbook entry that wasn't my own. But within a few days we've received fantastic entries and email from the most hardcore fans on earth! Brocket 99 Fans! This weeks news update centers on some of those emails. First, I want to address other web sites that sell the Brocket 99 CD's. Thanks to you, my network of web sites have become the most trusted for selling the best version (as far as I know. I'm always looking and upgrading) of the Brocket 99 Broadcast. Either directly or indirectly, Brocket fans have found them and made us the number 1 search for "Brocket 99" on Yahoo, Google, MSN, AOL, Canada.com and others. I will always strive to be the best source for this excellent piece of work. One web page that I know of has decided to attack my sites. Maybe he's pissed because I'm gaining some popularity with Brocket fans. I've been accused of saying that his CD's stunk because of the following statement; (Note: some people are selling the Brocket 99 CD at $6.99 and $7.99. I've purchased these CD's and the quality stunk! I've looked for the best quality Brocket 99 tapes and snippets for years and finally found a great generation recording. It's always up to you. Just a heads up!) I never mentioned names or web sites. I believe he targeted me because he had an ad and I decided to place one as well. That's what people do. The fact is that there are more than a few people that sell Brocket 99. I have bought and collected as many as I could get my hands on and I didn't always get them on my own. I have no idea if I own this individuals version. Or if it's any good. If it is, great! There are more psyched people out there getting a Brocket 99 fix. But you can't get the entire show with all of the music to fit on one CD. The show was most likely recorded on a 90 minute cassette and as hard as you might try, you just can't fit in on a single CD. Cut some of the music here and there, and then you'll get it on one CD. Other CD's include stuff that's on my "not so Brocket" CD. They are songs and commercials based on the original broadcast but not from the original show. So don't believe everything you read. Test my version. Find someone that has it if you're hesitant. The bottom line is I have a good reputation. I'm happy every time I get a cool email praising the quality. And if something's wrong, I make it right. That's MY guarantee. Now on to the really important shit. As I said, I've heard from fantastic people concerning Brocket 99 but I haven't just read emails from the diehard fans. I've heard from people that I really believe are "in the know" concerning the story behind Brocket 99. The one thing that both pisses me off and kinda makes me smile at the same time is that these masters of Brocketology never want to be named. I understand this because as a journalist, (as hard as that is to choke down) people ask that they be kept out of the spotlight. Over the years I've sat on big stories that wound up in one magazine or another. I was quiet because I was asked to be. You get fucked that way when it comes to some other writer getting the credit. But your trust stays in tact. So maybe one day, you'll get the story of your life due to the fact that you can be counted on. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. So, here for you now, are a few emails that I've received. I've deleted info that might have identified these individuals or their own "moles". Yeah, I know. But tough shit. It's good stuff anyway. Email #1 Most of what I've seen or heard on the internet about this program as far as its origins, those responsible, how it came to be, etc., is mostly 99.9% wildly inaccurate or completely false altogether. But then legends are made by saying nothing at all. I can tell you that practically everyone in the world is excited about this program except those who actually made it. For a sense of perspective, you have to remember that this thing is now almost 20 years old, and was originally intended as simply a private joke between the small handful of people involved. I know its a corny old saying, but truth is stranger than fiction in this case. This thing has gotten so immense over the years that it may be hard to believe that it was never intended for public consumption, or to be distributed on such a bizarrely grand scale as this. The producer, I can assure you, does not see Brocket 99 as his mission in life; does not want his legacy to the world to be Brocket 99 or be forever remembered as "Ernie Scar: Racist Bastard". Those in the know understand that this is satire, not some well thought out, deliberately planned attack on Natives. In fact, the man on the street - whoever he is - seems to think its the greatest thing. And that could be a whole different tangent right there, a study not so much about the program "Brocket 99" itself, but of what it is about these type of things that strikes a chord with people. A look a the deeper issues behind humour, racism, etc. I even know of some Indians that think its hilarious. You would not believe who has copies of this thing, many well known celebrities in various fields. The only real backlash I've seen in regard to it over the years has come mainly from a couple editorial writers at the Lethbridge Herald, and maybe a couple tight-assed anthropology professors with their own political axes to grind. He also adds Your Brocket99.net site seems to have the potential to be quite hilarious if it develops the right way. Email #2 Glad to see that someone has finally started up a Brocket page that actually might be around for longer than a month or two.I used to run The --- Webpage which featured a Brocket section but some asshole(s) took offense and got the page shut down - so much for democracy. Admittedly I was skeptical of your motives at first...I've always been a believer that only the original creators of this program should be entitled to any profit from it - hence I normally would probably send you a nasty email giving you shit for making coin from someone else's work. However, after reading your little news blurb I think your motives are pure - certainly more so than all the other people I've dealt with for copies of Brocket 99. Anyways, you were asking for information on the real Ernie Scar - well here's an email I received from one of my site visitors (when it was still up that is) Email from Mole The guy's name is ------ He used to work at -------- in ---------. Everyone in --------- knows this...not to mention the fact that I knew someone who worked at ----------- at that time. Mr. --------- is now ----------------------. But you didn't hear any of this from me ...heh heh I also received emails from 2 other people in Alberta verifying this information so I have no reason to doubt that this is Ernie Scar. One of the other emails I received said that ---- wants absolutely nothing to do with Brocket99 as apparently it caused him a lot of grief when it got out to the general public. If he is indeed Ernie Scar.So I contacted mystery contestant #1 about the man who's name was in the above email. Email #4 or #3... nitpicker! In regard to your question, "..is Ernie Scar a guy named -----?" This refers to ------------, and is one of the longest-running (and hardest to dispel) Brocket 99 myths. In a place as narrowly focused as Lethbridge Alberta, ------- has had a reputation over the years as a wild, nutty, goofball kinda' guy. So when something as mythical as Brocket 99 starts circulating - along with the instant rumour mill - ------ sorta' got pegged with this right off the bat. In fact, I exchanged a few e-mails with him on this issue a few months ago, and he still says that to this day he cannot go a week in that town without someone bringing it up. He says he really doesn't care, and is still amazed - as is everyone else - at the longevity and mythical status of this program. But with everyone kinda' thinking he was responsible, he still good-naturedly hopes that it won't lead to Wilton Weasel-Moccasin stabbing him in the back one day for being "..that racist prick who made Brocket 99." I can here state categorically and for the record that ----------------- was in no way responsible for the production of Brocket 99. He is NOT Ernie Scar. So, we have differing opinions of course and anyone who knows the rumor concerning the man that is being discussed here, knows his name. I think it's safe to assume that the character of Ernie Scar is a man. We also know that this individual (and the others involved) do not want to be identified. And there are others involved. Which brings me to my next point. I'd like any help you might be able to give me. Please EMAIL US if you know any of the Brocket players from Ernie Scar, Catface, Cryinhead... to Perline Prickleybush or even the Brocket 99 voiceover guy. This is important info and any real knowledge will be greatly appreciated! This story and emails contained herein are not for re-production on any other web sites or media. If you want to use it, email me and tell me for what purpose and I'll get back to you.
