THE BROCKET 99 NEWS AND INFORMATION CENTER

July 29th, 2003

As promised, Don and Mike played more Brocket 99 Bits today on their Nationally Syndicated radio show which is heard by millions in both the United States and Canada. They were gracious enough to plug Brocket99.Net and for that I want thank them very much!

I also had the opportunity to talk with Joe (read story below) by telephone and explained to him that I wasn't upset or angry with him. I just had a bone to pick and I picked it. After having a very nice conversation with him I realized that my stupid bone was nothing more than a misunderstanding. I tend to write whatever I'm feeling at the time without always thinking it over rationally. I react quickly and have terrible foot in mouth disease. My apologies.

Joe actually called to ask me to be on the air with Don and Mike tomorrow so that I could talk about Brocket 99. They're going to try to work me into the second break which will be about 3:45 PM eastern time.. Tune in if you get the chance.

For those who've never heard Don and Mike, it's simply the best show of its kind. If you're a Don and Mike fan, just one question. Did you wash your ass today?

OUR BROCKET 99 CD SET HEARD ON THE DON AND MIKE SHOW

July 28th, 2003

Only four days after "Joe" ordered one of our Brocket 99 CD sets, the legendary Safeway Commercial was played loud and clear on the Nationally Syndicated Don and Mike Show which can be heard on several radio stations in Canada and the US. Don and Mike announced the "world debut of another Ernie Scar tape." Of course the commercials have been heard for years on my pitifully small show, but never has Brocket 99 been given such a huge audience.

Before playing the commercial for Brocket Safeway, Don asked Joe (a Don and Mike employee with whom I have a bone to pick) "Where in God's name did you get this tape?" Joe (the world's oldest call screener) said that he bought the 2 CD's from a web site but didn't mention us by name. I somewhat understand that because the Don and Mike show carries a heavy price tag for advertising, but Joe really didn't get the Brocket 99 story right as I relayed it to him via email.

I also asked Joe if the CD's were for the radio show. I'd recognized his name and have been a fan of Don and Mike for over 10 years. His reply, which was emphasized twice was "The CD's are for my personal collection." So I want to talk with him further and find out why he said that when it seems evident he wanted the CD's for the show. Joe told Don and Mike; "I've done as much research as I can" so you've gotta think he was putting together his research for the show. I would have been happy to give Joe as much information as I could have for Don and Mike.  Maybe Don knows about our web site, maybe he doesn't. If he ever sees the actual CD Set, he'll know about Brocket99.net because our tags are on both CD's. I'll let you know more about this part of the story as it unfolds.

Don went on to ask the audience to put Brocket into a google search to find out if it was a real place. Brocket is indeed real. It's located in Southern Alberta, Canada (hears Rob booing) and is home for many Natives of the Peigan Tribe  I've included a map and satellite pic below. Brocket 99 was created in 1986 by a few whitey's and has created controversy ever since. Brocket 99 is seen by some in the Alberta community as being a racist slap towards Southern Alberta Natives. (see AN OPEN LETTER TO THE ALBERTA HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION below and the News Archives for more)

It's very cool to hear Don and Mike laughing at the Brocket 99 Show and wondering about the mystery of Ernie Scar and Brocket 99. It's fitting that our 2 CD set made its way onto the Don and Mike show because it was there that I first heard Brocket 99. And it's also great to know that more Brocket 99 bits will be heard by millions of people thanks to the Don and Mike Show and of course www.brocket99.net! The circle is complete... whitey!

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE ALBERTA HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2003

You know I'm getting a little sick and tired of  P.C. assholes that have no sense of humor and just want to whine whine whine about Brocket 99! I read more and more negative articles and posts about Brocket 99 and see the same complaints that refuse to cease. And even Mark Campbell seems critical at times. * "It's a very racist tape of a fictional radio station." But who can blame Mr. Campbell after all he's been through with Brocket 99. See our Interview.

The basic complaint was one I've heard so often. Brocket 99 is a racist tape that encourages hatred towards natives. The only people that like the tape are stupid white rednecks... and so on.

I'll admit this much. Some people that I've come across love nothing more than to make fun of native speech, dress and culture. You can see it very plainly in our (Ask Lenard) section. There is much misunderstanding and disgust with the native lifestyle that comes through in the letters posted. Well, that's sad but still a fact of life that we deal with. And I don't intend to shut the section down or censor it in any way at the moment.

I've said it before. You can't scare this site away. Making fun of other cultures is part of the human experience. We actually grow more when we can see how others view us. I'm telling you that black comedians would long for material if they couldn't make fun of whites or themselves. It seems that the only people that are attacked for ranking on other races are whites. Well, boo hoo hoo hoo. I don't want to hear your sob stories about the white Europeans that came over here and screwed everything and everyone up! That record is way too old and overplayed. It's time that we deal with the here and now and not the there and then!

And just in case you haven't noticed, this web site defends natives and their culture through our articles, promotion of pro-native music and items that are linked directly from Brocket99.Net. More items are added as we see fit to include them.

As far as the Alberta Human Rights Commission bringing charges against the creators of Brocket 99, (** due to action by anthropology professor Martin Whittles) I believe this to be a targeted, direct attack on the free speech and expression of a selected group of people based on their race. Would Mr. Whittles still bring this case before the A.H.R.C. if the tape had been made by natives? My opinion is absolutely not!

Incidentally, I've heard from very good sources that Brocket 99 is loved by many natives. The few natives that I know love it. I love it. And I'm part native. Sure, many people like Brocket 99 for "the wrong" reasons. And many others love Brocket 99 because it's a piece of pure radio genius.

Can't people who write on the message boards or in the Lethbridge Herald about the horrors of this tape understand that not everyone believes or interprets the same way? We are all individuals and as such, we all see every single thing differently. Do you want to stop free thought? Do you want to lock up everyone that has a negative view of someone else? Then I suggest that you start with yourselves. That's right! Just get your body behind bars and throw away the key. Because you judge us (Brocket 99 fans) just as harshly as you accuse us of hatred. And on top of everything, you have no proof that we are all the same or believe similarly.

Finally, I would like to invite any Native, Martin Whittles, or anyone from the Alberta Human Rights Commission to discuss this matter in a radio forum at a time of their own choosing. I assure you that your views will not be censored in the way that you would like to censor Brocket 99.

Thank you,

Michael

BROCKET 99 BROADCASTS LIVE ONLINE!

Friday, July 4th, 2003

(From Lenard) "Happy Independence Day to all da whitey Americans dat tink dere better dan da Canadians! And to my cuzin Curly in Spokane Washington. Oh and check out da new letters from stupid whities wantin' me to advise dem on tings. It's in MY SECTION!"

Thanks Lenard! Now on to the real news. Brocket99.Net celebrated last night with its first broadcast online. It wasn't widely publicized in the local news. No special parade in Fort McLeod. There's never one on July 4th.  It wasn't even in the fuckin' paper! But it still happened and we had about 30 listeners all during the night!

When we are on the air you can listen to us on our LISTEN page. You can also go to the Pirate Radio Network and scroll down to the bottom of the page to see if Brocket is on the air. When we do broadcast, you'll hear all things Brocket related. First and foremost, THE ORIGINAL, ONE AND ONLY BROCKET 99 SHOW from 1986. You'll also hear Brocket Rare and Unreleased! Not so Brocket Parodies, Radio CLIT, Brocket99.Net interviews with Mark Dawson, Dick Twang Band and many more to come and our own brand of commercials and plugs. By the way, the quality is lousy and the window in the back is just plastic. But what do you want? You got good frequency response so fuckin' shut the fuck up.

Speaking of the Dick Twang Band, Horace contacted me and told me about a gig. "We are doing a LIVE concert show this SAT, July 5 in Dawson Creek. DICK hasn't been here in Dawson Creek for about 7 years...its gonna be crazy...And we're recording it live." So if you live in or near Dawson Creek, up and at em'. Go support the best band in the world! Elvis Manywounds made me say that.

The gear section has been torn down and re-built by our experts. Looks like a real fleabag now! I've also been updating the Brocketology Section and there will be a huge update available July 13th. It's been a long time sweetie! Anyway, I forgot where I was. I'm goin' home now.

I COULD HAVE STOPPED HIM BUT I WAS TOO BUSY PUKIN'

Tuesday, July 1st, 2003

Happy Canada Day! Hope all you Indians in Brocket don't drink and drive... without the old lady and grandma too! And as well their sisters. Share da Lysol on da way to bingo. Seriously, enjoy the holiday, crank up da AC/DC, get pissed and drink some wood alcohol.

BIG STUFF!  We've found a way to broadcast Brocket 99 and related material on this web site. No downloads required. The bad news is that it's kinda like listening to a transistor radio under water. But I think most Brocket 99 fans are used to listening to a bad sounding Brocket 99 dub. So, if you don't have our re-mastered 2 CD Set, it's like old times.

There's more news on the horizon that you're not going to believe. I'm getting all sorts of emails these days. Most are nice, but some of you just think I'm as gullible as Lenard. Believe it or not, people are trying to shut the site down by any means necessary. For every 100 positive emails I receive, I get about 1 or 2 with a virus attached. I thought it was a fluke but they're titled, Pincher Creek, the mole and more. Luckily we have fantastic virus systems and my computer hasn't been compromised.

I checked out some leads and believe that it's coming from a native group that really hates what we're doing. Well keep it up because when I find you, I'll see your maze glazed asses behind bars! If you've got a bone to pick, I'll give you an open forum to express your views.

Meanwhile, we're finding out more about our "REAL HIGHEST QUALITY FULL VERSION OF BROCKET 99" rip-off artist. I had a few people order his CD. Here's what they said. It took almost two months for one guy to get his CD. It was choppy and missing a ton of content. In fact, you'll only get 71 minutes of Brocket. It's missing most of the Iris Larratt interview, lots of songs and commercials and has none of rare and un-released. He won't contact you and I doubt that he even sends out the CD unless you bug him to death like another guy did. It took several emails over a period of 5 weeks for him to finally get his copy. If you hadn't noticed, he also lies in his ad. He tries to hook you by quoting $4.99 as his price. When you get to the web page, his bait and switch begins. $4.99 for the cassette. Who buys them anymore? And $6.99 + $3.01 shipping that he doesn't tell you about. I'm just giving you information so you can make an informed decision.

Hey, I'm not perfect. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for certain Brocketologists to get their stuff. But our record is clear. Over 400 satisfied Brocket owners in three years. Only 3 complaints total. That's less than 1%. And we made 2 of those people very happy in the end. Got a horror story about some Brock-ass selling crap CD's? Send us an email. We want to let people know! Speaking of that; Here's a email about a traveling Brocket 99 salesman;

Been listening to Brocket since 1991.. real story for ya: In line to buy a hot dog at a bar in thunder bay (on), bar was called Coyotes", anyway, behind me was some dude talking like "ernie scar" and it was hilarious.. turned around, and the dude was selling bootleg tapes out of his trenchcoat.... i never bothered to go up to him and ask him if he really was Ernie Scar, was too drunk and too busy pukin... that was around 1994, couple years after i first heard da Hottest Rock on da reservation.... anyway... not sure if it was really the man who started it all or just some fuck cashing in on da casino money check, but fucking funny as shit.

So have a great summer. Get your daily shot of Brocket. We'll be back soon with more news on the station that turns that red skin redder!
